N. Wyelene Fredericksen, 88, of Owatonna died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Cedarview Nursing Home. Wyelene was born July 28, 1914, in Lincoln Township, Lake Crystal, Blue Earth County, Minn., to Frederick A. and Nina I. (Addleman) Fredericksen. She taught elementary education and art at Dodge Center, Minn., and Clarion, Iowa. In 1944-45 she was an occupational therapist in Boston. She taught in Fairmont and then spent a year at the University of Minnesota getting a master's degree. In 1950-51 Wyelene taught at the American Military Dependents School in Heidelberg, Germany. She was an elementary art supervisor at Austin Public Schools for 25 years until her retirement in 1976. She has been an Owatonna resident for the past 17 years. Wyelene traveled in Europe, Mexico, Venezuela, and across the United States. She was a member of the Austin and Owatonna Retired Teachers Associations.

Wyelene is survived by her sisters, Elsie Williams of Lake Crystal, Minn., Frances (and George) McGuire of Litchfield, Minn., and Nada (and Donald) Wiggins of Owatonna, Minn.; nieces and nephews, Jean (and Ray) Hanson of Apple Valley, Dennis (and Joan) Fredericksen of Rapid City, S.D., Douglas (and Nancy) Fredericksen of Lake Crystal, Larry (and Judy) McGuire of Litchfield, Marilyn (and Doug) Kronbeck of Red Wing, Kathy (and Ken) Johnson of Danube, Fred (and Becky) McGuire of Anchorage, Alaska, Jana (and Monte) White of Cottage Grove, Diana (and John) Vasicek of Vadnais Heights, Laurie Stewart of Owatonna, Jeff (and Shari) Wiggins of Minneapolis and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother and sister-in-law, Earle and Marge Fredericksen.

Visitation will be held at Michaelson Funeral Home, 1930 Austin Road, Owatonna, from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 13 and an hour before the service on Monday. Funeral services will be at Michaelson Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 14. Interment will be at the Lake Crystal Cemetery on Monday, July 14 at 2:30 p.m.
