Ruth Geneva Skogeboe, 91, of Austin, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea. She was born May 13, 1910, to John and Nellie (Shurson) Tesdahl in Clarion, Iowa. She married Mayer Skogeboe May 29, 1937, in Northwood, Iowa. A lifelong Austin area resident and member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, she was involved in church activities including circle. She also loved to bake and preserve foods by canning and enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Marilyn Skare, Machesney Park, Ill.; Sandra and Maynard Bothun, Cary, N.C.; sons and daughter-in-law, Sam and Judy Skogeboe, Austin; Jerrold Skogeboe, Rockford, Ill.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Newman and Myrtle Tesdahl, Austin; sisters, Edith Sayers, Boulder, Colo.; Gladys Sharp of St. Louis, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and three sisters.

Service: 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, in Austin, with the Rev. Kristin K. Wee officiating. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Worlein Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
Interment: Grandview Cemetery. Memorials: The family prefers memorials to St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, 301 First Street NW.
