Ed Barnes, 86, Rites Held Feb. 20

Funeral service for Ed Barnes, 86, was held Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Eyler funeral home. Rev. Calvin Milan of the Church of Christ officiated. Mrs Milan was organist and Carl Weitmon was soloist. Burial was in the Clarion Evergreen cemetery. Pall bearers were Floyd Robie, Mel Robie, Anton Anderson, Howard Whitman, Howard Askelson and Chas. Mourlam.

Ed Barnes, son of John and Mary Barnes was born in Osage township, Weona, Ill., Sept. 9, 1871. He came to Iowa and worked on a farm. He was married to Susan Richardson on Feb. 21, 1900. They lived on a farm, near Storm Lake for 11 years then moved to a farm in Wright county until retirement. Ed Barnes was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, who died in September 1951, three brothers and one grandchild. Survivors are 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one brother, three daughters and one son.
