Martha L. Thomas, age 87, of Earl, passed away on Friday, January 1, 1982, at the Spooner Nursing Home. The former Martha Butenhoff was born on July 9, 1894 at Dows, Iowa. On July 22, 1912 she was united in marriage to Earl Thomas at Hampton, Iowa. They came to the Earl area in 1917. She is survived by her husband, Earl; two daughters, Irene Jewell of Roseburg, Ore., Eleanor Davis of Lake Wales, Fla., two sons, Leslie of Durand, Glen of Faribault, Minn.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 4, 1 p.m. at the Dahl Funeral Home. Spooner, with the Rev. John Soward officiating. Burial was in the Earl Cemetery. Visitation was held on Sunday at the Dahl Funeral Home.
