Martha Meinders, 94, of Meservey, died Wednesday (June 21, 1995) at the Belmond Care Center, Belmond. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Reformed Church, Meservey, with the Rev. Rodney Meester officiating. Burial will be in the Meservey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Grarup Funeral Home, Meservey.

Martha Meinders was born on May 1, 1901 in Belmond, Iowa, the daughter of Dick L. Pals and Elizabeth (nee) Kuper Pals. She attended rural schools in the Belmond area through the 8th grade. She was united in marriage to Adolph Meinders in her parents home on Dec. 29, 1921. They made their home farming in the Belmond, Meservey, and Thornton area until retiring in 1972 when they moved into Meservey. Martha enjoyed playing cards and crocheting. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Meservey. She is survived by one son, Dean Meinders and his wife, Shirley, of Thornton; five grandchildren, David Meinders of Swaledale, Darwin Meinders of Rockwell, Debora Popenhagen of Cedar Rapids, Doreen Meinders of Radcliff, and Dale Meinders of West Des Moines; eight great-grandchildren, Troy, Krista and Tyler Meinders of Swaledale, Seth, Drew, and Evan Meinders of Rockwell, and Tara and Megan Popenhagen of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Allie Pastour, Minnie Mennenga, and Esther Boelman, all of Belmond; and one brother, Edward Pals of Belmond. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, and two sisters.
