Forrest G. Williams was born September 13, 1920, the son of Junius and Bertina (Johnson) Williams at Eagle Grove, Iowa. He passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at the Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point having reached the age of 88 years, 6 months, and one day. Much of his life was spent on his family's farm in Spink Township, rural Elk Point, SD. In 1939, he graduated from Akron High School and then attended NBT (National Business Training College) in Sioux City, IA. From there, he went to Madison, Nebraska where he did office work for a contractor. He served for 2 years in the U.S Army, stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and Camp Hale in Colorado. Following his discharge, he was united in marriage to Florence Horton on September 3, 1946. To this union, a daughter, Linda Kay was born. They resided on Florence's family farm where they farmed and raised livestock. Forrest was a life-long member of Brule Creek Lutheran Church, rural Elk Point where he served many years as treasurer, usher. He also served as secretary/treasurer for the Brule Creek Cemetery Association. For 24 years, he served on the board of director for Union County Rural Electric and on the Beresford (S.D.) Co-op Oil Company board for numerous years. Among Forrest's greatest joys was traveling and photography. He had a great love for children especially babies, and loved entertaining them. Another of his interests was fishing.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 62 years, Florence; a son-in-law, Ronald Dreeszen and his wife, Joyce and their family; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a nephew, Darrell Johnson and his family, several cousins; and a very close friend, Dean Wenger of Danbury, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Kay Dreeszen, his parents, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carol and Violet Nelson; a niece, Marlene Johnson; uncles, Alfred and Martin Johnson; aunts, Ida Johnson and Lena Klopstad.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Anderson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home, Elk Point, SD. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2009 at Brule Creek Lutheran Church, rural Elk Point, SD with Rev. Jared Rakness officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, rural Elk Point, SD.
