IOWA FALLS—Darlene J. Pommrehn, 76, of Iowa Falls, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2007, at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, November 29, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls, with Pastor Wayne Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Alden Cemetery. A time of visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Ellsworth Hospital Auxiliary, Iowa Falls. The Linn’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Darlene June Hackbarth, was born on January 22, 1931, the daughter of Carroll Earnest and Edna Elizabeth (Meyer) Hackbarth at Popejoy. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Iowa Falls where Darlene attended school, graduating from the Iowa Falls High School with the class of 1949. On June 2, 1950, she was united in marriage to Donald Oscar Pommrehn at the First United Methodist Church, Iowa Falls. To this union two children were born, John and Susan. Darlene worked for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, Iowa Falls, was a salesperson for Avon Products for 17 years, and then became co-owner of Hoffman Hobbies, Iowa Falls. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Iowa Falls, and the Ellsworth Hospital Auxiliary, Iowa Falls, serving as a Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop worker and buyer for many years. She was also active in Cub Scouts.

Darlene Pommrehn is survived by her husband, Donald Pommrehn of Iowa Falls; her children, John (Vicki) Pommrehn of Columbia, Missouri and Susan (Larry) Jaenke of Iowa Falls; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Arlene Thompson of Storm Lake; and her second mother, Edna Allen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Edna Hackbarth; her granddaughter, PO2 Jaime S. Jaenke; and her brother-in-law, Orville Thompson.
