Shirley L. Gavin, 76, Eagle Grove, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City. Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Rev. Mary K. Green officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Shirley Lodene Gavin was born May 23, 1929 in Eagle Grove, the daughter of Omer S. and Iola G. (Clark) Severson. She graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1947. Shirley and her family lived in the Ellsworth and Radcliffe area. She was a waitress for many years at Miller’s Café in Ellsworth. She was united in marriage to Earl Farwell, Jan. 11, 1951, in Kansas City, Mo. Earl died Nov. 25, 1959. On Nov. 17, 1965, she was married to William Gavin. In April of 1973, they moved to Eagle Grove where she worked for Ryerson Auction and Realty until her retirement in 1985. Bill died June 18, 1981. Shirley was a member of the Church of the Open Bible and she attended the United Methodist Church. Shirley loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed listening to KQWC, watching Wheel of Fortune and doing her crossword puzzles.

Survivors are her mother, Maxine Severson of Webster City, children Ranae Anderson and husband Harold of Webster City, Greg Farwell and wife Debra of Eagle Grove, Jeff Farwell and wife Cathy of Clarion, Todd Gavin and wife Chris of Manchester, and Mark Gavin of Eagle Grove; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Omer and Iola, and brother Wilbur Strauser.
