May 5, 2004Richard G. “Rich” Green, age 64, of Webster City, died Monday May 3, 2004 at his home. A memorial service will be 1:30 PM Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City with Pastor John Grebner officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City. The Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Jan; children, Richard Green of Duncombe, IA; Michael (Sharon) McDermott of Webster City; Michelle (Doug) Ober of Humboldt, IA; Kimberly (Mick) Chambers of Webster City; Shawn (Mark) Benhke of Virginia Beach, VA; Sherri (Tom) Olson of Blairsburg, IA; Mindy (Rob) Wagner of Webster City; Lanny Green of Woolstock, IA; brothers, Bruce (Diane) Green of Fountain Hills, AR; sister, Peggy (Carl) Janssen of Weatherford, TX; sister-in-law, Judy Green of Eagle Grove; 21 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Judy Grove and a brother, Curtis Green.
Richard G. “Rich” Green was born September 19, 1939 in Belmond, IA. On October 20, 1977 he married Janet Potts McDermott in Elk Point, South Dakota. Due to his ill health he retired in November of 2002. Rich drove truck for Iowa Tank Lines and Luppes Trucking for 20 years. For the past three years he drove for Benshinn Trucking in Eddyville. He enjoyed stockcar racing and drove stock cars for 25 years. He was inducted into the Hamilton County Racing Hall of Fame. He was an avid fisherman. Rich enjoyed his family especially his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. He was a standing member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City.
