October 10, 2003Naomi Dinsdale, 85, of Webster City, died Saturday, October 4, 2003 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral Home and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Naomi Emma Barkema, daughter of Hans and Emma Abrahamson was born on September 16, 1918 on the family’s farm north of Jewell. She received her education from the Webster City Schools. On February 20, 1936, she married Clair Thomas Dinsdale at Clarion. The couple resided in Fort Dodge. In 1946, the family moved to a farm in the Stonega community where they resided until moving to Webster City During her employment, she worked for Uker Sewing Machine, Pamida, Coulters and Dermand’s CafÈ all in Webster City. Naomi is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Dinsdale of Webster City, Marcia and Ron Casbon of Webster City; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Brenda Dinsdale of Blairsburg, Ronald and Susan Dinsdale of Huxley, Michael and Joanne Dinsdale of Richardson, TX.; eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Rongved and Esther Tuvell both of Fort Dodge and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Clair, who died November 1, 1971, she was also preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Timothy Scott Dinsdale; great granddaughter Darian Emma Casbon and brother, Emmett “George”Barkema. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Webster City. She also taught Sunday School and was past President of the Ladies Aid at the Mulberry Center United Methodist Church and former 4-H leader of the Blairsburg club. She was a volunteer aid for Headstart and the Webster City Elementary Schools. Naomi was very active in her community. Her hobbies included gardening, crafting, sewing and ceramic work.
