December 31, 1882 -- September 9, 1962

Clara Pauline Cox was born on Dec. 31, 1882 at Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Angeline Probst. When yet a baby the family moved to Wright County, Iowa. It was here that she attended school and grew to womanhood. She taught school for several years. In 1903 she moved with the family to Grand Meadow, Minn. where she again taught school. She was married to Clayton Cox, Grand Meadow, Oct. 15, 1907. To this union were born two children; Edith (Mrs. Harold Pike), Lucille (Mrs. Harold Hinkle), Austin. Mr. and Mrs. Cox farmed in the Grand Meadow-Dexter community for 33 years. In 1944 they moved to Austin and lived at 1107 17th Ave. NE. Mrs. Cox passed away on Sept. 9, 1962 at the age of 79 years, 8 months, and 8 days. She had been in ill health for over a year. Mrs. Cox is survived by her husband Clayton; two daughters, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Daniels, Los Angeles, Mrs. Anna Prickett, Minneapolis; a brother Charles Probst, Port Orchard, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother John, and a sister Mrs. Emma Prickett. While yet a young woman she joined the Church of God at Bethel, Iowa. Christ's teachings were her guide throughout a long and useful life. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, and a friend to all who knew her.

Clare Karsten, Mrs. Wilfred Pike Jr., Mrs. James McDonough, Dr. Sheedy, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Olson and the staff at Raymond's Nursing Home, the casket bearers, those who furnished cars, and those who prepared and served the dinner and the lunch. Your prayers, expressions of sympathy and many acts of kindness during the long illness and death of our beloved wife and mother were all deeply appreciated.
