John Thomas PRICKETT

John Thomas Prickett was born in a log cabin near Newark, Illinois, of pioneer parents, Elijah and Hannah Prickett, on June 22, 1869. There he grew to manhood and in 1890, was married to Carrie L. Redfield. They resided on a farm near Newark, later moving to a farm near Clarion Iowa where she passed away in July 1900. They had one daughter Ina (Mrs. Ralph DeYoung) of Dexter. On Dec. 22, 1901, Mr. Prickett married Emma Probst of Galt, Iowa. They resided for a short time in Humboldt County, Iowa and in 1903 came to Minnesota where he farmed for 29 years. Since his retirement from farming he made his home in Austin. Two daughters were born of this marriage, Della, (Mrs. William Lorenzen) and Lila, (Mrs. Wallace Maloney) of Austin. Mr. Prickett passed away Aug. 11, 1948 at this home at the age of 79 years, 1 month, and 20 days. He was a member of the Baptist Church since he joined at the age of 10 years. A kind husband and father, he will be missed by family and friends. He leaves besides the immediate family, 16 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren, also many friends who will mourn his passing. Funeral services were conducted at the Jordan Chapel by Rev. Charles H. Davis of the Church of Christ. Interment was at Oakwood cemetery.
