Mary O. Bosworth Wood, 85, passed from this life to spend eternity with the Lord Jesus Christ on April 7, 2009, at her home in Miami, Okla., where she had lived for the past three and half years. She was a member of First Christian Church in Miami. She was preceded in death in the year 2000 by her husband of five years, Floyd D. Wood. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nettie (Todd) Bosworth, and by her brothers, Perry, Guy and Ronald Bosworth. Mary is survived by her twin sister, Lura and husband, Keith Kent; by her brother-in-law, Marvin L. Wood; and by her sister-in-law, Phyllis (Smith) Wood. Mary was a loved and highly respected Christian wife and mother of four. Her children, twins, Kenneth Wood, of Tonawanda, N.Y., and Katherine Gray, of Neosho, Mo., and their respective spouses, Judy Wood and Paul Gray; daughters, Nancy Lane and husband, Larry, of East Prairie, Mo., and Cynthia Weece and husband, Leon, of Miami, Okla. Mary's four children and their spouses have been in church ministries for approximately 40 years. She was also the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren, and the great-grandmother of 24. Mary was born one of twin girls to Frank and Nettie Bosworth on May 10, 1923, in Goldfield, Iowa. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City, Iowa, in 1941. She was baptized into Christ at the age of 10 and was a member of the Church of Christ in Webster City. She taught in country school in 1941 and 1942, after her normal school training in Webster City. Mrs. Wood was married to her high school sweetheart, Floyd D. Wood, son of Fred and Beulah Wood, at her parents' home on July 14, 1942. In the course of life, work took Mary and Floyd from Webster City, Iowa, to San Jose, Calif., Central Point, Ore., Saratoga and Campbell, Calif., Joplin, Mo., and Miami, Okla. They were highly respected and loved by many Christian friends in churches wherever they lived. The Lord and High Church were at the core of their lives. They set an example for their children by demonstrating faithfulness to the Lord and the church by giving their time and abilities.Family and friends will greatly miss her. She has given each of us an unmistakable imprint from her Christian character.Services will be at the First Christian Church, Miami, Okla., Friday, April 10 at 10 a.m. Visitation will precede the services at 9 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.Visitation will take place at the Webster City Church of Christ (Iowa), Saturday morning at 10 a.m., with the burial following at the Cass Center Cemetery, Webster City, Iowa.Grandsons are her pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Mel Bosworth, Wendell Doolittle and Melvin Richardson. Memorials may be made to the home churches of her children.
