Mark Allen Hanson, the son of Merrill E. and Wilma (Adams) Hanson, was born December 21, 1968 in Iowa City, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, attending Eagle Grove Schools. Mark worked for Miller Grain Systems, and Jim Fenske Salvage in Goldfield. He enjoyed fishing and collected rubber and plastic snakes. Mark passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009 in Eagle Grove at the age of 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his brother Merrill, Jr. of Algona; sister, Linda of Eagle Grove and brother, Dean of Eagle Grove; step mother, Arlene Hanson; several step brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery with Pastor Chris Lang officiating

April 10, 2009Eagle Grove man dead in shooting
EAGLE GROVE - An Eagle Grove man was found shot to death Wednesday night, according to the Wright County Sheriff's Office. Deputies reported that the body of 40-year-old Mark Hanson was found at a rural Wright County residence. Investigators were summoned there at about 8:45 p.m. after someone called 911 to report finding the body, according to sheriff's office reports. No arrests have been made in connection to the incident. The exact location where the body was found has not been revealed by the sheriff's office. However, investigators said that the site was not Hanson's home. The death is being investigated by the Wright County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. The Eagle Grove Police Department also responded to the initial report of the body being found.
