Carrie Lee Hayden, the daughter of William and Berniece (Newsome) Edson, was born August 21, 1922, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, graduating from Fort Dodge High School, “Class of 1940”. Carrie married George Hayden in Evergreen, Colorado. The couple made their home in Englewood, Colorado and moved to Eagle Grove in 1998. Carrie worked in a factory in California during World War II, as a caretaker in Colorado, a Nurses aide, dorm keeper at ICCC and a YWCA resident manager in Fort Dodge. She was a member of the United Church of God in Des Moines and sang in the choir. Carrie enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and collected dolls and stuffed animals. Carrie passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Wright Medical Center in Clarion, Iowa, at the age of 86 years, with her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Cindy Lou; sister, Mary Jane Bergstrom and her dog, Ginger. Survivors include her husband, George Hayden of Eagle Grove; son, Terry Monson of Eagle Grove; daughters: Pam McNew and husband John of Lochbuie, CO, Leanne Spangler and husband Mel of Littleton, CO, Katy Price and husband Norm of Loveland, CO and Carol Lee Grano and husband Skip of Ludington, MI; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren and step-sons, Martin Hayden and Greg Hayden of Lincoln, NE.
