Robert Bjornson Jr., the son of Robert and Ruth (Gordon) Bjornson, Sr., was born May 7, 1934, in Wright County, Iowa, near Goldfield. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth. Bob was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Goldfield. He married Eldene Ellsworth on June 15, 1958; Marilyn Hallagan on March 23, 1985 and Pollyann Hitchcock on July 14, 2005. Bob worked in the tire departments for Giese Construction and Umthun Trucking, retiring when he was 59 due to his health. Bob was a member of the United Church of Christ, Eagle Grove. He was also a former member of the Eagle Grove Jaycees and served as a volunteer policeman. Bob played Santa Claus in the community for many years and enjoyed making wooden crosses, postage stamp mailboxes and many other items. Robert passed away on Friday, March 6, 2009, at Careage of Clarion, at the age of 74 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marilyn and step-grandson, Christopher Claude. Survivors include his wife, Pollyann Bjornson of Eagle Grove; son, Brian Bjornson of Eagle Grove; daughter, Jodi Mericle of Eagle Grove; step-daughter, Sharon Claude and husband Gerald of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren: Jaime Bliesmer and husband Mike, Ryan Cellan; step granddaughter, Christina Claude;great-granddaughter, Hannah Bliesmer; sisters: Donna Gray of Livermore, Barbara Gangstead and husband Norman of Goldfield and Audrey Cover of Washington.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2009, 1:00 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove with Pastor James Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
