ONAWA, Iowa -John M. Crawford, 58, of Onawa died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Onawa. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery, Turin, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa. Mr. Crawford was born Sept. 12, 1942, in Onawa, the son of Frank and Dorothy (Eliason) Crawford. He was raised in Grant Center and Blencoe, Iowa, before moving to a farm near Soldier, Iowa. He graduated from Soldier High School in 1961, and received his bachelor's degree from Iowa State University in 1966. He married Carole Seitzinger on June 10, 1967. He later received his master's degree in 1968 from the University of Northern Iowa and taught at Iowa Central Community College in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He moved to Onawa in 1972, where he was employed with SPS and Cargill. He also sold real estate and insurance. He married Ann Schroeder on July 26, 1986. He was currently employed as vice president, senior leader and agricultural loan officer with Firstar Bank in Onawa. He was a member of United Methodist Church and a former member of Vesper Lodge 223 A.F. & A.M. and Sioux City Abu Bekr Shrine. He was a former board member of Onawa Country Club and a former member of West Monona school board. He was active in 4-H.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jenna and her husband, Brian Blake of Sioux Falls, S.D., Rena Crawford and her fiance, Ken Payne of Oceanside, Calif., and Amy and her husband, Lee Phelps of Onawa; four grandchildren, Jordyn and Andrew Blake and Tyler and Tate Phelps; his mother of Onawa; a sister and her husband, Mary and Don Blauw of Gilbert, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Coleen Crawford of Soldier; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, James.
