EAGLE GROVE - Dallas Dean Stapp, the son of Raymond C. and Louella (Bogie) Stapp, was born while the peach blossoms were in bloom, on May 2, 1912, in Fremont, Ill. Dallas was united in marriage to Anna M. Jensen on Jan. 3, 1933, in Dakota City, Neb. The couple made their home in Webster City for several years where Dallas worked as a farm hand for Lloyd Bickford. From 1941 until 1967, Dallas and Anna lived in Wright County where they farmed East of Eagle Grove. In 1967, they moved to Rock Rapids where Dallas and son, Richard owned and operated Jongewaard - Stapp Funeral Home. In 1977, they moved back to Webster City where they remained until returning to Eagle Grove in 1995. Dallas belonged to the Park Church of Christ in Goldfield. He enjoyed traveling, meals at Sr. Citizens, and visits from family and friends. He loved taking car rides to check on the crops and always looked forward to helping out on the farm.

Dallas D. Stapp, of Eagle Grove, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 96. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna in 2002; son, Richard Stapp, Sr.; sisters, Beulah, Mary, and Margaret Stapp; brother, Allen Stapp; a brother and sister in infancy; grandchildren, Beth Osboe, Richard Stapp Jr., and Angela Hartnett; and a great-great-grandson, Blake Peterson. Survivors include four daughters, Delma (Richard) Swanson of Webster City, Helen Burr of Eagle Grove, Betty (Gary) Hall of Newport News, Va., and Rosemary (George) Ellwanger of Des Moines; 17 grandchildren; 36 great- grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Park Church of Christ in Goldfield with Pastor Robert Dishman officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
