Kenneth W. Trotter, the son of Charles and Ruth (Swafford) Trotter, was born September 7, 1921, near Eagle Grove. He attended Country School and graduated from Goldfield High School in 1941. Kenneth worked as a farm hand in the area for several years until he entered the military during WWII, where he proudly served his country in the US Army as a medic, from 1942 to 1946. He began working at the Goldfield Creamery in 1952 and worked as a cheesemaker from 1957 until 1975. He later became the head cheesemaker at the creamery and went on to win several awards for his excellent service. After the creamery closed, Kenneth worked at Field’s Antiques from 1976 until he retired in 1986. Kenneth was a life-long member of the Goldfield United Methodist Church and served as a Church Trustee, as well as a member of the Pastor Parish Committee. He was a member of the American Legion for several years.
Kenneth went home to be with the Lord on February 22, 2009 at the Careage Care Center in Clarion at the age of 87 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Darrell Eugene Trotter and Robert Charles Trotter. Kenneth was a thoughtful person who would do anything for anyone. Words cannot express how thankful we are for what he has done for his family. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Survivors include his sisters, Naomi Hill of Dakota City and Edith Trotter of Hampton; eight nieces and nephews, Douglas (Sujeane) Charlson, of Nevada, Dorian (Pam) Charlson of Des Moines; Janine Witte of Fort Dodge, Janet (Mike) Craig of Fort Dodge, Daryl (Kelly) Charlson of Ankeny, Joyce (Terry) Nerhus of Fort Dodge, Dennis Charlson of Humboldt, Janella (Brian) Sanburn of Owatonna, MN and many great nieces and nephews.
