Sioux City Journal, IowaHULL, Iowa -- Marie Donkersloot, 105, of Hull died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Oolman Funeral Home in Hull, with the Rev. Joel Bensema officiating. Burial will be prior to the service Saturday in Sheridan Township Cemetery, Boyden, Iowa. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Marie was born May 3, 1896, in New Holland, S.D., the daughter of John and Kate (Siemens) Koster. She was raised in Kanawha, Iowa and Sanborn, Iowa.On Feb. 24, 1918, she married Nicholas Donkersloot in Sanborn. They farmed in Sheldon, Sanborn and for 27 years in Boyden. In 1951, they retired and moved to Denver, Colo. "Nick" passed away April 25, 1966, in Sheldon. In 1988, Marie moved to Hull. On April 22, 1992, she became a resident of Pleasant Acres. Mrs. Donkersloot was a member of First Reformed Church in Hull. Survivors include three children, Ilene Donkersloot of Hull, Ed Donkersloot and his wife, Alma, of Sanborn and Mae and her husband, Clayton Vis, of Hull; a daughter-in-law, Betty Donkersloot of Zeeland, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; seven great-stepgrandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-stepgrandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Raymond, a sister and two brothers.
