SIOUX CENTER, Iowa -- Greta Van Voorst, 76, of Sioux Center died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at Sioux Center Community Nursing Facility. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with the Rev. Jan Neels of Heritage Reformed Church in Hull, Iowa, officiating. Graveside services will be prior to the services Friday in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center. Mrs. Van Voorst was born to Tunis and Libbie (Van Den Brink) Van Der Weide in Kanawha, Iowa, on Feb. 23, 1926. She married James Van Voorst in Sioux Center on Jan. 11, 1946. They farmed in the Sioux Center and Hull area. She did housekeeping for many years. They recently moved into Crown Pointe in Sioux Center. She was a member of Heritage Reformed Church in Hull. Survivors include her husband, James; three daughters, Lois (Alvin) Zomer and Shirley (Arlin) Born, all of Sioux Center and Lavonne (Harvey) Spaans of Hull; five sons, Roger (Carol) of Sioux Center, Arlin (special friend, Vicky Coy) of Adrian, Mo., Doug (Diane) of Marionville, Mo., Tom (Annette) of Maurice, Iowa, Kevin (Angie) of Newport, Minn.; two daughters-in-law, Audrey (Perry) Raman of Hull and Shirley Van Voorst of Rock Valley, Iowa; 34 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Esther Tromp of Pella, Iowa. She was preceded in death by three sons, Alvin and Timothy; and James Jr. in infancy; a daughter-in-law, a grandson-in-law; her parents and a brother. Memorials may be directed to Chears Hospice and Home Health of Sioux Center or Heritage Reformed Christian School in Hull.
