HOSPERS, Iowa - Gertrude Steines, 96, of Hospers died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City, Iowa. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. Burial will be in Hospers Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Mrs. Steines was born Jan. 10, 1905, in Alton, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Alice (Van Engen) Lyzen. She married Onen Steines on Jan. 15, 1936, in Orange City. They lived in Renwick and Webster City, Iowa. Later they moved to a farm at Alton. In 1970 they retired into Hospers. In 1996, they moved to Heritage House Nursing Home. Mr. Steines died Feb. 23, 1998, in Orange City. Survivors include a brother and his wife, Andrew and Ethel Lyzen of Hale, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Alma Lyzen of Hull, Iowa; a nephew and three nieces. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Gerrit Lyzen; and two sisters, Josephine Goodlaxon and Dena Lyzen.
