FORMER LOCAL MAN SUCCUMBS IN IOWA

Ernest Hubbard Dies Saturday
In Cherokee Hospital After Three Months' Illness

Ernest P. Hubbard, 66, a former Evansville resident well-known in this locality, died at 6 p.m. Saturday in a hospital at Cherokee, Ia., where he had been receiving medical treatment for the past two months. He had been failing in health for three months and was taken to the hospital when his condition became serious. Mr. Hubbard was born Oct. 26, 1867 on the farm of his father, the late B.W. Hubbard, located two miles northwest of Evansville in Union township. He was married there Oct. 16, 1888 to Miss Vinnie Burgess, daughter of the late John Burgess after which they settled on the late Byron Campbell farm in that vicinity later moving to Evansville. Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard took up their permanent residence in Goodell, Ia., about 25 years ago.

Besides his wife and host of friends, Mr. Hubbard is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Jenison, Belmond, Ia., and Mrs. William Heginger, Goodell, Ia.: one son, Harvey Hubbard, at home; five grandchildren; his aged mother, Mrs. Evalina Hubbard who resides with her daughter, Mrs. Delbert Smith, Brooklyn; one sister, Mrs. Delbert Smith; and six brothers, Osmond, Lloyd, and Robert Hubbard, this city; Ralph Hubbard, Fort Atkinson; Clayton Hubbard, Chicago; and Clarence Hubbard, Hamilton, Canada. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in a church at Goodell with burial in the cemetery there. Relatives from this vicinity attending were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hubbard and Robert Hubbard Sr., this city; Mrs. Warren Crocker, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Hubbard, Chicago; and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hubbard, Fort Atkinson, their son, Watson Hubbard of Kenosha, and their daughter, Mrs. Frank Atzinger of Hartland, Wis.
