BELMOND, IA-- Eugene "Nick" Nicholson, 60, of Belmond, died Monday (July 22, 1996) at the Belmond Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ken Fineran officiating. Burial will be in the Belmond Cemetery. People attending the funeral are asked by the family to dress casually. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m.

Eugene "Nick" Nicholson, the son of Harold and Cleo (Sefton) Nicholson was born at Clarion on Oct. 23, 1935. He attended school at Lincoln Center, Dows, and graduated from Belmond High School in 1955. He worked at several jobs as a truck driver, including Westaby's in Alexander, and the past 18 years for Farmers Grain in Belmond. He was united in marriage to Shirley Nelson on Nov. 9, 1973, at the United Methodist Church in Belmond, and they made their home in Belmond. Nick enjoyed spending time with his stepchildren and stepgrandchildren, working on cars and playing bingo. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Nicholson of Belmond; his mother, Cleo Nicholson of Belmond; stepchildren, Brett Lobdell and his wife, Sonja of Belmond; Kurt Lobdell of Belmond; Blake Lobdell and his wife, Jane, of Clear Lake; Tracy Lobdell of Marshalltown; Kimberly Miller and her husband, Brad, of Albia; seven stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandson; aunts, Thelma and Irene Sefton of Dows. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Nicholson, and one brother, Harry James Nicholson.
