Ruth Anne Toulouse, 76, of West Salem, Wisconsin and formerly of Shell Rock, Iowa, died Friday morning, December 21, 2007, at the Lakeview Healthcare Center in West Salem, Wisconsin of natural causes. Ruth was born on July 14, 1931 in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard C. and Lillie K. (Parsons) Edwards. Ruth graduated from high school in Dows, Iowa and then continued her schooling at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa, where she received her LPN degree. On September 24, 1950, Ruth was united in marriage to Robert E. “Bob” Toulouse in Dows, Iowa. The couple made their home in Des Moines and later moved to a farm near Dows and in 1965, moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa. Ruth worked as an LPN for Sartori Hospital and the Cedar Falls Western Home. In 1992, the couple moved to Shell Rock and Ruth continued to work as an LPN until she retired in 1995. Bob died on April 9, 1996, and Ruth continued to live in her home in Shell Rock until she moved to Mindoro, Wisconsin, to live with her daughter, Sue and her family. Ruth was a former member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waverly. Ruth enjoyed fishing, traveling and gardening, but most of all loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her seven children, Susan (Ronald) Kramer, of Mindoro, Wisconsin, Beverly (Jim) Collins of Readlyn, Iowa, David (Mary) Toulouse of Clarksville, Iowa, Jayne (Paul) Lanzi of Princeton, Illinois, Sandra (Jim) Hart of Sheldon, Iowa, Cynthia Cole of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Kevin (Juliet) Toulouse of Granite Shoals, Texas; 25 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and Sylvis Flett of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Her parents, her husband, Bob, and one sister, Joyce Spencer, preceded Ruth in death.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, with Pastor Nathan N. Frazee officiating. Public visitation will be held on Thursday from 12:00 noon until services at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly. Following the services, Ruth’s body will be cremated and burial of cremains will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family.
