Philip C. Erdman, 53, Belmond, died January 17, 2009 at the Belmond Medical Center. A memorial service was held January 20 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belmond with Rev. Jim Gochenouer officiating. The body was cremated. Phil, the son of Charline and Harold Erdman, was born January 20, 1955 in Leavenworth, KS. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran in Belmond. He graduated from Belmond High School in 1974. Phil enjoyed athletics in high school, and he and his brother Fred enjoyed the competition of a good round of golf. He attended Ellsworth Community College, graduating with a degree in business. Then he worked as a manager for Styleco in Cedar Falls for seven years. He married LuAnn Lyle on May 14, 1983 in Verona, WI. Phil and LuAnn chose to make their home in Belmond. They enjoyed spending time together and watching their family grow. Phil was employed at Eaton Corporation in Belmond the past 25 years. Their union was blessed April 15, 1985 with the birth of their daughter Patricia Anne. Trisha was the apple of Phil's eye, and he was very proud of her and all of her accomplishments. Their marriage was again blessed on March 1, 1993 with the birth of their son Trevor Charles. Phil and Trevor had a special relationship. They enjoyed playing pranks and trying to one-up each other. Their special moments also included Phil teaching Trevor many valuable life lessons. Both children were very special to him. Phil's primary concern was always for the welfare of his family.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents; brother Fred; father-in-law Curtis Lyle; and brother-in-law Jeff Lyle. Philip is survived by his wife; children; aunts Minnie Johnson and Mary Pringnitz; mother-in-law Patricia Lyle, sisters-in-law Pamela (Tom) Zink, Valera (Rick) Blumer, Paula (Tommy) Lyle, Robin Lyle and Jeanette Swenson; brothers-in-law Kim (Kris) Lyle, Brad (Noelle) Lyle, Shane (Kelly) Lyle and Cory (Sara) Lyle; nieces and nephews Katie, Kristen, Kristopher, Michael, Tyson, Amy, Raven, Trenton, Jason, Melissa, Brooke, Tiffany, Nik, Caleb, Jake, Miranda, Garrett, Jerron, Mackenzie, Alec, Colton and Eden; great nieces and nephews Madison, Makayla, Madilyn, Ian, Devin and Shaela.
