Aldean Shipman, daughter of Carl and Paulina Tjeranson Nerem, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 27, 2001. Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 30, 2001, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Corwith, Iowa. She was born on January 19, 1926, and was 75 years, 11 months, and eight days old at the time of her death. Aldean received her education in the rural schools in Wright County and graduated from the Renwick High School.

On July 3, 1942, she was married to Roland H. Erdman who was killed in action in March 1944. On October 14, 1945, Aldean was united in marriage to Wilbur John Shipman. They moved from Renwick to the Corwith area, where she continued to live. She lived in the Waukee area with her children the past year. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, ALCW, and a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Aldean enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and her Norwegian heritage. She was well known for her wit, canning & cooking, creative poems, and having a heart of gold. Throughout her life she worked with her husband as he farmed in the Corwith area and operated Shipman Shelling & Trucking Service. She was also employed at Winnebago and the Corwith-Wesley Schools.

She is survived by eight children, Jackie Harle of Sheffield, Iowa, Trudy (Ron) Cook of Beloit, Wisconsin, Ramona Shipman of Perry, Iowa, Brad (Mary) Shipman of Van Meter, Iowa, Sara (Wyatt) Earp of Waukee, Iowa, Tonya (Dan) Butler of Aitkin, Minnesota, Wade (Pam) Shipman of Fayette, Alabama and Angela (David) Anliker of Perry, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Bud (Lucille) Hoveland of Clarion, Iowa; 26 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Aldean was preceded in death by her husbands, Roland Erdman and Wilbur John Shipman; her parents, Carl and Paulina Nerem; one son, Roland Erdman Shipman; one daughter, Leann Lucille Shipman; one granddaughter, Carly Elizabeth Earp; and five brothers, Lawrence Nerem, Tjeran Nerem, Selmer Nerem, Marvin Nerem and Gerhard Nerem.
