June 2002Darlene Opal Swartzrock, 75, 2192 Old Highway Road, Charles City, Iowa., died Thursday June 6, 2002, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday June 8, 2002, at Calvary Baptist Church, 703 Milwaukee St., Charles City, with the Rev. Steven Brudnak officiating. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. immediately following services on Saturday. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday June 7, 2002, at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Hospice of North Iowa or to Calvary Baptist Church.
Darlene was born Oct. 30, 1926, the daughter of Verne and Sarah Schoolcraft in Renwick, Iowa. On Aug. 9, 1947, Darlene was united in marriage to Harold V. Swartzrock in Charles City. To this union two sons were born. Darlene had been a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church and she enjoyed attending many church-related activities. She worked at Swartzrock Implement for 50 years as bookkeeper and parts manager. She had enjoyed going to antique tractor shows and the annual Steam Engine Show. Her hobbies also included needlepoint and embroidery.
Those thankful for having shared in Darlene's life include her husband Harold; her son, Steven E. and his wife Diana of Charles City; 3 grandchildren, Benjamin, Leah, and Daniel Swartzrock; sister, Doris Bettesworth of Ettrick, Wisc.; and brother, Edgar J. Schoolcraft, Forest City, Iowa. Mrs. Swartzrock was preceded in death by her parents, son, Vernon A., and two sisters, Verna Skillen and Grace Gray.
