May 2003BLOOMINGTON, MINN - Clara Jacobs, 92, a resident of Bloomington, Minn., formerly of Charles City, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Martin Luther Manor in Bloomington, Minn. Funeral services for Clara Jacobs will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2003, at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. The Reverend Irving Sandberg, pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday, May 9, 2003.
Clara Esther Gillmann Jacobs was born April 24, 1911, in Sioux County, the daughter of Rev. Emil and Emma (Schultz) Gillmann. She received her education from the Renwick School. On July 7, 1929, she was united in marriage to Elmer Jacobs. Elmer had just been ordained into the Lutheran ministry on June 30th, 1929. They both served the Lord for 62 years in Texas and Iowa. Her life was dedicated to serving the Lord in various ways such as playing the organ, leading Jr. Mission Band, and teaching Sunday School. Clara loved her family and anyone she had contact with. She was a true witness to her faith and in her love for Jesus.
Living family members include three children: Marvin (Hannah) Jacobs of Silver Springs, Md., Gordon (Lorraine) Jacobs of Charlotte, N.C., and Ruth (Mervin) Spande of Burnsville, Minn.; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a step great great grandson; and a sister, Verna Lehmann of Bloomington, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1998, and a granddaughter, Melanie Jacobs. Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.
