Margaret Elaine Roberts, the daughter of Jacob and Edith (Rowan) Pontius, was born on June 7, 1927, in Hugoton, Kansas. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, graduating from Hugoton High School in 1945 and later graduated from Wichita Business College. Margaret also worked as a teller at the Hugoton State Bank.
On October 14, 1949, Margaret was united in marriage to B. J. Roberts. In 1964, Margaret began working for Wichita State University, where she held several successful positions during her career. She served as secretary to the school president, football secretary and post office manager. Margaret retired in 1992, moved to Eagle Grove in 1994 and had recently moved to The Cedars in Madrid. Margaret enjoyed baking (in her younger years), gardening, sewing, reading, bird watching and her two cats. But most of all, Margaret dearly loved her family and treasured the time she spent with them.

Margaret passed away Thursday, January 8, 2009, at The Cedars Assisted Living in Madrid, at the age of 81 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Arthur; sisters, Delpha, Edna and Norma and beloved daughter, Allyn. Survivors include her two children, Jeff Roberts and wife Lan of San Jose, CA and Juanita Thompson and husband Tom of Eagle Grove; five grandchildren: Jenny and Kevin Roberts and Sarah Andrew and Elizabeth Thompson and brother, Joe Pontius.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor John Nett officiating. Visitation is Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until time of service at the church. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
