OTTAWA —Mary Catherine "Kate" Killelea, 83, of Ottawa, Illinois died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 at Pleasant View. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Columba Church with the Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ottawa Funeral Home with a rosary at 4 p.m. and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas in attendance.

She was born April 29, 1925, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Martin and Mary (Flynn) Huibsch. She married Leo Wanken on Nov. 27, 1948, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. He died June 26, 1975. She then married Francis Killelea on Feb. 28, 1998, at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. She was a member of St. Columba Church and its Altar & Rosary Society and CDA. Survivors include her husband, Francis; two daughters, Jane Berndt of Wisconsin and Anne (Kurt) Schneider of Naperville; four sons, John (Vicki) Wanken of Killeen, Texas, Joe Wanken of O’Fallon, Dave Wanken of Ottawa and Larry (Vicki) Wanken of Galesburg; a stepdaughter, Rita (Ervin) Fullerton of Ottawa; a stepson, Tom (Nancy) Killelea of Ottawa; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Francis (Margaret Ann) Huibsch of Joplin. Mo. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edmund and Joseph Huibsch. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Peter, Matthew, Zachary and Nathan Wanken and Nicholas and Neil Schneider. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Killelea, Ervin Fullerton and Clive Turvey. Memorials may be made to the St. Columba Church Building Fund. Ottawa Funeral Home, 1111 La Salle St., Ottawa, IL 61350.
