Sioux Falls - Dolores Mae Francis, 78, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota died Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at Fort Dodge, IA. Dolores Mae Knudtson was born May 29, 1930 to Leo and Luella (Hansen) Knudtson at Thor, IA. She grew up in Fort Dodge, IA, where she received her education, graduating from high school in 1948. She was united in marriage with George Francis on May 9, 1959 in Durant, OK. The couple lived in Texas for a number of years before moving to Alta, IA. Her husband preceded her in death on September 29, 1980. Dolores moved to Sioux Falls in 1990, where she was employed as a cashier for Wal-Mart for nearly 18 years. She worked at Wal-Mart up until the time of her illness. She most recently resided in Fort Dodge, IA, where she was living at the time of her death. Dolores was a member of First Baptist Church in Storm Lake, IA for many years, where she taught Sunday School. She was currently a member of First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls. She loved crocheting, sewing and latchhook. She enjoyed her job at Wal-Mart and particularly loved her customers.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughters, Barb Grove of Fort Dodge, IA, Janet (Jim) Matthews of Recluse, WY, Joelene (Bruce) Erie of Newell, IA and Brenda (Kent) Whipkey of Flandreau, SD; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Alta, IA. Visitation, with the family present to greet friends, will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Miller West Funeral Chapel, Sioux Falls.
