Esther Cornelia Bartholomew
A private graveside service will be in Humboldt Union Cemetery in Humboldt, Iowa, for Esther Cornelia Bartholomew, who died Oct. 5, 1998, at age 98. Miss Bartholomew was born Sept. 28, 1900, in Hardy, Iowa. She graduated from the University of Colorado and pursued graduate studies at the University of Washington and Portland State University. She taught in Colorado for 15 years before moving to Gresham in the mid-1940s. She taught English and history at Gresham Union High School for 22 years, retiring in 1966, and was a member of Gresham Methodist Church. Last year, she moved to San Jose, Calif. Survivors include her sister, Ruth Nichols of San Jose; and six nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Darling-Fischer Garden Chapel in Santa Clara, Calif.
