August 26, 1920 - August 21, 2000

Max C. White, 79, of Alden, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2000, at the Heritage Care Center, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Max C. White will be 1:00 pm Monday, August 21, 2000, at the Popejoy United Methodist Church, Popejoy, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery, Popejoy. The Linn's Funeral Home, Alden, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.

Max Clifton White was born August 26, 1920, at Colo, Iowa the son of Archie E. and Ona Pearl Matison White. He moved with his parents to Popejoy, Iowa when he was five years old. He attended the Popejoy Community Schools graduating with the class of 1938, and graduated from Hamilton Business College Mason City. He worked for a defense plant in Waterloo, Iowa and a Convair factory in California during World War II. On January 29, 1944 he was united in marriage to Nellie Margaret Peterson at Hampton, Iowa. Max farmed with his wife for 55 years southwest of Popejoy. He was a member of the Popejoy United Methodist Church; the Popejoy Lions Club; and
the Franklin County Historical Society.

Max C. White is survived by his wife of 56 years: Nellie M. White of 295 Oakland Drive, Alden, Iowa, 50006; a daughter: Molly Hammervold and husband Michael of Mason City, Iowa; one son: Marlo White and wife Roshawna of Webster City, Iowa; four grandchildren: Travis and Trisha Hammervold, and Shanda and Rusty Grove; one great-grandchild: Carter Hammervold; and three brothers: Clare White; A. Eldon White of Tucson, Arizona, and Donald White of Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents: A. E. and Ona White.
