TREMONT, Ill.-Glenda M. Waggoner, 89, of Metamora, Ill., and formerly of Popejoy, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill. Services were held Monday, Sept. 30, at the Tremont Methodist Church in Tremont with private burial in Oak Hill Cemetery at Popejoy. There was a small reception for the family at the Popejoy Methodist Church after services.

Glenda was born Feb. 19, 1913, in Walnut to Charles and Alma McFate McElvania. After teaching school near Grinnell for one year she came to Popejoy and taught all grades in a one room school just outside of Popejoy. Here she met her husband Nathaniel Waggoner, formerly of Iowa Falls, and they were married Feb. 4, 1939, at Mason City. After he graduated from Iowa State Veterinary School at Ames they made their home in Olin until 1965 when they moved to Illinois. She is survived by her husband; three sons, Gary and wife Wanda of Boulder, Colo, Curtis and wife Kaye of Rock Falls, Ill., and Dennis and wife Terri of Germantown, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.
