Kenneth Hoelscher, 73, of Popejoy, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2003, at his home. Funeral services for Kenneth Hoelscher will be 10:30 Thursday, May 8, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church, Popejoy. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Popejoy, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Linn's Funeral Homes, Iowa Falls Chapel; with the family present to receive friends between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm. There will be a Masonic memorial Service at 8:00 pm following visitation. Memorials may be directed to the family at 902 main Street, Popejoy, Iowa, 50071. The Linn's Funeral Homes, Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Kenneth Frederick Hoelscher was born January 30, 1930, at Eldora, Iowa, the son of Henry Gustav and Ethel Alva (Norton) Hoelscher. He attended the Mason City, Iowa Community Schools. He served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 - 1952 with the 23rd Infantry, 2nd Division. On March 14, 1954, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Lorraine Hillman at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fairbank, Iowa. Kenneth was the owner operator of Hoelscher Oil Company, Popejoy, Iowa from 1969 to 1978. He had also driver truck for Mickow Truck Lines, Melton Truck Lines; and had worked for Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach California, King's Food in Ames, Iowa, and Ken's Phillip 66 in Ames, Iowa. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 201, Alden, Iowa and the Arcadia Masonic Lodge # 249, Ames, Iowa

Kenneth is survived by his wife Carolyn Hoelscher of Popejoy, Iowa; five daughters: Jacqueline Hoelscher of Des Moines, Iowa, Deborah Harvey and husband Michael of Gramby, Colorado, Diane Husted and husband Rocco of Alden, Iowa, Dawn Schwieger and husband Brad of Williams, Iowa, Colleen Ross and husband Jon of Dows, Iowa; one son: Bruce Hoelscher and wife Karen of Iowa Falls, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandsons; one step-great grandson; one step great granddaughter; one sister: Shirley Meyer of Cucamonga, California; one step-brother: Jerry Deckard of Clear Lake, Iowa; one step sister: Janice Easley of Mason City, Iowa; and two sister-in-laws: Norma Hoelscher of Laporte City, Iowa, and Fern Hoelscher of Williams, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Ethel Hoelscher; his step-mother: D'Lda Rolls Deckard Hoelscher; an infant son: Wayne Allen Hoelscher; four brothers: Bernell Hoelscher, Loren Hoelscher, Merlin Hoelscher, Bernard Hoelscher; and two brother-in-laws: Floyd Easley and Donald Meyer.
