October 22, 1908 - March 20, 2002

MARSHALLTOWN- Louise H. Harris, 93, of Marshalltown, formerly of Liscomb, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at the Marshalltown Medical Center. Services will be held Saturday, March 23 at 11 a.m. at the Liscomb Church of Christ with burial in the Liscomb Cemetery. Minister Helmer Petersen will officiate.

Louise was born Oct. 22, 1908, at Liscomb, to Delbert and Josephine Smith Hilsabeck. She graduated from Liscomb High School in 1926 and later attended cosmetology school in Waterloo. On Dec. 31, 1926, she married Glenn Harris in Webster City. They lived in Popejoy and Alexander before moving to a farm west of Liscomb where they spent the majority of their lives. They spent the winters in McAllen, Texas, since the mid-1950s. After Glenn's death in 1995, she worked as a dorm housemother for the nursing school at the Marshalltown Hospital. Louise was a member of the Liscomb Church of Christ and former member of the Liscomb Federated Women's Club and Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed knitting and flower gardening and was a sponsor for the Liscomb girls basketball teams that her husband coached.

She is survived by three sisters, Helen Simcox of Marshalltown, Reba Harris and husband, William, of Omaha, Neb., and Janet Stackhouse and husband, Richard, of Marshalltown; a brother, Gerald Hilsabeck and wife, Janet, of Liscomb; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepmother, Olive Hilsabeck; and her husband. Creps-Abels Funeral Home of Eldora, is in charge of arrangements.
