January 29, 1920 - December 18, 2001

WILLIAMS-Loren Kenneth Hoelscher, 81, of Williams, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at Metropolitan Medical Center in Des Moines. Services were held Friday, Dec. 21 at the United Methodist Church in Williams, with burial in the Williams Cemetery. Rev. Rick Layman officiated.

Loren was born Jan. 29, 1920, at Hubbard, to Henry and Ethel Norton Hoelscher. He attended a Hubbard rural school, and high school in Eldora. On Jan. 20, 1941, he married Fern Duden in Princeton, Mo. He farmed, and was owner and contractor of Hoelscher Construction and engineer at Hoelscher Ag. Loren was a member of the Williams United Methodist Church and the Elk's Lodge No. 1674 in Iowa Falls for 26 years. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Fern; four daughters, Lorna Nassichuk and husband, Walter, of Calgary, Canada, Kathryn Sutherland and husband, Glenn, of Mariposa, Calif., Karen Johnson and husband, Charles, of Belle Plaine, and Colette Mickelson and husband, Steven, of Kelley; five sons, Lurlin and wife, Connie, Loren D. and wife, Virginia, Mark and wife, Margaret, and Carroll, all of Williams, John and wife, Joan, of Farmington Hills, Mich.; 25 grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Hoelscher of Popejoy; and a sister, Shirley Meyer, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Douglas in 1977; and three brothers, Bernard, Merlin and Bernell Hoelscher. Surls Funeral Home in Williams, was in charge of arrangements.
