Joyce (Mrs. Merle) Bonte, 54, died Thursday, succumbing to a coronary attack while a patient at Belmond Community Hospital. Seven years ago she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Relatives and friends of Joyce Bonte have established "The Joyce Bonte River Park Memorial Fund". Mrs. Bonte, who died last week of a coronary attack, was a prime mover in establishment of River Park following the tornado in 1966 at Belmond. She was elected to the first Belmond Park Commission board in 1968 and resigned in 1976 because of health problems.
