Marsine S. Hanzlicek, age 86, of Austin, Minnesota died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002 at Prairie Manor Nursing Home, Blooming Prairie. She was born Feb. 13, 1915, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Swen and Thea (Toresdahl) Tollackson. She attended school and graduated from Eagle Grove High School. In June 1938, she married Donald Hanzlicek at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Austin. She was a homemaker and previously worked at Hormel Foods and volunteered at St. Augustine Grade School. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Ann's unit at St. Augustine Church and was active in mission work for the Catholic Church. Her hobbies included playing the drums in the Kitchen Band at the Cedars of Austin and playing bridge.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Jean Hanzlicek, Owatonna; daughters and son-in-law, Marie Hofius, Elk River; Madonna and Joseph Nitzke, Sioux City, Iowa; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Adeline Orness, Rocky River, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; brothers, Alvin and James.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, with a 4 p.m. CCW rosary and a 6:30 p.m. wake service and Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Paul Nelson officiating. Casket bearers will be Greta Nitzke, Matthew Kolb, Josh Hanzlicek, Dan Newkirk, Keith Rischmiller and Mike Walerak. Interment: Calvary Cemetery. Funeral Home: Mayer Funeral Home, Austin.
