TYNDALL, SD - John M. Rodenberg, 60, died of non-Hodgkins lymphoma Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at his home. He was born Feb. 1, 1939, at Vincent, Iowa. He grew up in Badger, Iowa, and graduated from high school and community college at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He married Ellen Korte on April 4, 1964, at Palmer, Iowa. They lived at Woolstock, Iowa, for eight years, where he was general manager of Coop Inc., of Tyndall and Springfield. He served on Tyndall City Council and was in the Iowa National Guard for eight years. He was a farm sales representative with Dunrite Inc. of Fremont, Neb., for the past several years. He was featured in two national farm magazines: Custom Applicator and Farm Industry, on the importance of nitrogen side dressing. He was one of two Coop General Managers from South Dakota chosen to attend meetings in Washington, D.C. He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Tyndall Rotary and St. Michael's Hospital Board and American Legion , serving as a past president. He also played college baseball and fast-pitch softball.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Diane Szymanski of Sioux Falls and Renae Durfee of Fairmont, Minn. three grandchildren a sister, Marge Potanko of Colorado Springs, Colo., and a brother, Paul of Badger, Iowa. Mass of Christian burial begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Leo's Catholic Church at Tyndall, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 1 to 5:30 p.m. today at Petrik-Kelley Funeral Chapel of Tyndall, with a 7:30 p.m. wake service at the church.
