1921 - 2008

Floyd David Johns, born October 20, 1921 in Thor, Iowa died at his home in Morro Bay the afternoon of August 25, 2008. Raised in Missouri, the family moved to Taft, CA in 1939. He enlisted in the service in 1942, serving in Patton's Army in North Africa and Italy. After the war, he returned to Bakersfield and worked for the Rudnick family at Kern Valley and Piute Packing Companies until his retirement. He obtained his pilot's license in 1952. He was preceded in death by his parents Dave & Victoria Johns, his first wife Dorothy Murray, and a son Richard 'Kent' Johns. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Audrey Allen Johns of Morro Bay; a brother, Kenneth (Joyce) Johns of Miners Oak; a sister, Imogene (Ed) Erlewine of Springville, Ca; children Trina (Jerry) Vancuren of Bakersfield, Jana Johns of Stockton, Mark Johns of southern Ca, and Karl (Brenda) Johns of Bakersfield; grandchildren Jim (Kerri) Vancuren of Bakersfield; Jennifer (Tom) Irvin of Bakersfield; Jason (Tracy) Vancuren of Bakersfield; Angela (Ruben) Rodriquez of Fruita, Colorado; Nikole (Brian) Strickler of Fruita, Colorado; Chaz Danielson of Murphys, CA; Lissa Danielson of Loleta, CA; Sara (Ruben) Gonzaga of Bakersfeld; Armand Johns of Bakersfield; Laura Johns of Bakersfield; Sam and Aaron Johns of Bakersfield; 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. At his request, there will be no services. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Best Care Nursing and Hospice Partners of the Central Coast. In lieu of flower, donations can be made to the charity of ones choice.
