July 12, 2006LONG BEACH, Washington -- Charles Raymond Whitecotton, 77, of Long Beach died July 7, 2006. The son of Fred and Helena (Meek) Whitecotton, he was born Aug. 18, 1928, in Vincent, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army in Japan from 1947-50 and in Germany from 1961-64. After completing his military service he moved to the Vancouver area. On Dec. 23, 1972, he married Carole Jean Miles in Nevada. They made their home in Vancouver. He worked out of the Operating Engineers Union in Vancouver for about 20 years. He retired in 1991 and the couple moved to Long Beach in 1992 and made this their permanent home.
Survivors include his wife Carole Whitecotton of Long Beach; brother, Larry Whitecotton of Portland; daughters, Mina Custer of Washougal and Rene Kemp of Carson; son, Kenneth Whitecotton of Tifton, Ga.; stepdaughters Jodi Spahman of Kelso and Gail Moore of Silverdale; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. July 13 at the Ocean Park Community Church, 26709 Vernon Avenue. Arrangements are by Cascade NW Funeral Chapel of Longview.
