January 29, 2006Kansas City, MO -- DOROTHY C. SCHULZ, 103, of Kansas City, MO, peacefully took her Lord's hand on January 27, 2006. Her family and many friends that she gained along the way enjoyed her long life. She was born April 14, 1902 and had previously lived in Des Moines, Algona, and Vincent, Iowa. Dorothy had enjoyed many years and up to recently, her position as the exercise leader of the Kendallwood Retirement Center. She stayed active with exercise, books, and puzzles keeping her mind sharp until her eternal journey home. In addition to her parents, Mattie and Rome Robison, she was preceded in death by her husband Dan; sons, Darold (Bud), his wife Odelia (Sis), Richard; and a grandson, Gregory Utoft. She is survived by her daughters; Arlene (Keith) Sapp of Ottumwa, IA, Joyce (Earl) Smith of Des Moines, IA; son, Larry (Suzi) Schulz of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Leann (Robert) Walton, Terry (Renee) Schulz, Dan Schulz, Sandra (fiancee Brian) Schulz, Randy Schulz, Gary (Donna) Sapp, Dianna (Ken) Hartman, Daniel (Linda) Smith, Robert (Karen) Smith, Virginia (Tim) Comfort, Candace (Dan) Richter, Steve Schulz, Michael (Debbie) Schulz, and Matthew (Angela) Schulz; 23 great-grandchildren, six great great- grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Kansas City, and will also be held today, Sunday, January 29th at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home in Fort Dodge at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Bill Van Nostrand, Pastor of St John's Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Graveside services will be Monday, January 30th at 10 a.m. at the Newark Township Cemetery, Vincent. Memorials may be left to the Irvington Presbyterian Church in Irvington, Iowa.
