Jeannette (Jan) Korslund, retired faculty member, died of heart failure on December 29. 1999. An FCS alum, Korslund earned a bachelor's degree in 1949 and master's degree in 1965. She joined the faculty in 1962 as an instructor and retired in 1990 as an associate professor in family and consumer sciences education and studies. She served as assistant to the dean and as classification officer. In 1978, Korslund received the ISU Faculty Citation, and in 1984 the Student Alumni Association presented her the Outstanding Advising Award. Funeral services are planned for January 8, 2000 in Eagle Grove. Adams Funeral Home in Ames is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Mayo Clinic Foundation or the Jan Korslund Scholarship Fund at ISU.

Jeannette M. Korslund, 72, of Ames, died of heart failure on Wednesday, December 29, 1999. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8 at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove, at 11 am. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Jeannette M. Korslund was born October 14, 1927, in Norway Township, Humboldt County near Thor, the daughter of Edwin J. & Clara M. (Foss) Korslund. She graduated from Iowa State University in 1949 and received a Master's Degree in 1965, also from ISU. She was a professor in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. ISU, held professional positions in consumer relations, research and recipe development at Omaha Power in Omaha, Nebraska, and General Mills in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She retired in 1990. She was active on many committees and events, was honored as a recipient of the ISU Alumni Faculty Citation. In 1984 was awarded the ISU Student Alumni Association Outstanding Advisory Award in the College of Home Economics.
Jeannette is survived by two sisters - Lois Korslund of Columbia, Missouri, and Mary Korslund of Blacksburg, Virginia, one sister-in-law, Charlene Korslund of Eagle Grove, one cousin raised in the Korslund family, Brian Rainer and wife, Gloria of Champaign, Illinois, four nephews, many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Allen. Memorials may be made to Mayo Clinic Foundation, Rochester, Minnesota or the Jan Korslund Scholarship Fund at ISU Foundation.
