Wendell H. Feaster, 85, farm hand & mechanic

Wendell H. Feaster, the son of Lindsay and Amelia (Miller) Feaster, was born on June 19, 1923, in Whittemore, Iowa. He was raised by his grandparents. He attended school in Curlew and Rolfe. He worked as a farmer’s hired hand for several years until moving to Algona where he worked as a mechanic for Kent Motor Company and Percival Motors. He married Darlene Knutson in 1943 and they had two children, Kathrine and Richard. Darlene preceded him in death in 1991. In 1994, he married Vonieta Xanders. They moved to Eagle Grove where they resided until moving to Algona Manor Care facility in August of 2008. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove.

Wendell Feaster died on Thursday, October 2, 2008, at the age of 85, at Algona Manor in Algona, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Darlene and sister, Ruth. He is survived by his wife, Vonieta Feaster; two children: Kathrine Sigsbee and husband, Bill, of Lake Ozarks, Mo., and Richard Feaster and wife, Linda, of Algona; four grandchildren: Will Sigsbee and wife, Jenny, of Minneapolis, Minn., Chris Monson and husband, Scott, of Kansas City, Mo., Shelley Purdin of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jeff Feaster and wife, Michelle, of Humboldt; two step-grandchildren, Angela Patterson-LaBaw and husband, Veth, of Rochester, Minn., and Aaron Patterson and wife, Amy, of Chicago, Ill., and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 6, 2008, 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Algona, with Dr. Kevin Hollinger officiating. Burial was held in Union Cemetery in Humboldt. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
