Francis E. Hossman, 82, enjoyed family, fishing, & woodworking

Francis E. Hossman, the son of Frank E. and Amy L. (Sterling) Hossman, was born November 21, 1925, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth. He was united in marriage to Donna Wise on October 20, 1951, in Vermillion, S.D. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. He served in the U.S. Army from June 18, 1944, until April 13, 1946. He returned to Eagle Grove after his Honorable Discharge and worked for Boone Valley Coop and Farmland for nearly 35 years, retiring in 1988. He was a 50-year member of the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, daily walks to town, visiting with friends, and spending time with family.

Francis Hossman died Thursday, October 2, 2008, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home at the age of 82 years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Donna Jean of Eagle Grove; daughters, Gloria Snyder of Goldfield and Kay Jessen of Eagle Grove; grandchildren, Stacy Snyder, Sara Ell (Ryan), Becky Zigrang (Jean), Megan Jessen (Jason Morris), Shane McCann and Holly Jessen; great-grandchildren, Paige Morris, McKenzie Ell, and Brandon Zigrang.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 6, at 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Rev. James Seibert officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials will be left to the discretion of the family. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
