Fern was a teacher in the rural schools in Hancock County. She was united in marriage to John Floyd Paulson on June 4, 1935. They were married for 55 years and spent their entire married life farming in the Britt and Wesley areas before retiring in 1973. Fern was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Wesley and served as the pianist and organist for 50 years. Music was an integral part of her life and in addition to being the church organist, she enjoyed participating in musical and social events. Fern was a 75 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and also a member of the Charity Rebekah Lodge of Britt. She was active in many church, community and neighborhood organizations over the years, including Farm Bureau Women and 4-H. She greatly enjoyed her immediate family, relatives and friends.

Fern is survived by two daughters, Janice and David Tegtmeyer of Mesa, Arizona and Joyce and Robert Dohse of Madison, Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Shari and Ed McKnew of Traverse City, Michigan and Dan and Natalie Tegtmeyer of Chandler, Arizona; four great-grandchildren, Tanner, Taylor and Riley Tegtmeyer and Anthony Rinehart; and many close cousins. Fern was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1990; her parents; and a brother, Calvin.

The family would like to thank the management and staff at the Westview Care Center for their devoted, compassionate and loving care for our Mother over the last nine years. We are truly grateful.
