Ardeth Dodd Mygatt, the daughter of Harl and Emma (Mack) Dodd, was born March 24, 1915, Randolph, Iowa. She graduated from Randolph High School and from a Business College. She was a legal secretary for many years in Des Moines and retired from McGrath and McGrath, Eagle Grove, Iowa. In 1939, Ardeth married Ralph Mygatt in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Ardeth was a member of D.A.R., the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove and First Presbyterian Church in Randolph. She enjoyed sewing and loved to paint and had many beautiful oil paintings. Ardeth spent many winters in Arizona and was a loyal Phoenix Suns fan.
Ardeth passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ralph in 1989; sister, Elaine Anderson; brothers, Clark Dodd, H. R. Dodd and Lyle Dodd. Ardeth is survived by three nieces, Janice Dawson and husband Larry of Burlington Jct., MO, Lyla Kloos of Raleigh, NC and Jean Fuller of Maryville, MO; one nephew Tom Dodd, of Phoenix, AZ and her friend and devoted caregiver Louanna Lehman of Vincent.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove. Visitation is from 9:o0 a.m. until service time at the church. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 18, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the United Church of Christ, Eagle Grove, Iowa, 1115 SW 2nd Street, Eagle Grove, Iowa 50533.
