Ethel Hudson, 96, Webster City, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at Crestview Manor. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept 18, 1998, at Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Center Cemetery north of Webster City. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home and prior to the services on Friday.
Ethel Kepler, daughter of James and Myrtle Bowman Kepler, was born Oct. 26, 1902 in Webster City. She attended Webster City Schools. On October 19, 1921, she married Joseph Homer Hudson. The couple farmed near Webster City for a number of years and in 1941, they moved to an acreage one mile north of Webster City where she resided until entering Crestview Manor in 1989. Her husband died in Sept. of 1960. For Several years, she was employed at Hahne Printing, The Daily Freeman-Journal and Shady Oaks restaurant, retiring in the early 70's
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Etheldra and Claude Willson of Webster, and 13 grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Harold, Howard, and Joseph; two daughters, Helen Jean Hudson and Marcelyn Lake; two brothers, Harold and James Kepler, two sisters, Elva Underwood and Helen Riley. She was active over the years as a volunteer at Crestview Manor where she practiced her skills.
